The one book box that always makes me happy is the new FairyLoot box. This months theme is Whimsical Journeys, which is inspired by books like Percy Jackson, Narnia, Lord of the Rings and Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them. I am a big fan of all those fandoms, so the Fairyloot April box promised a lot.
Lets see if it delivers for this month.
The box contains a lot of items and even sports two larger items. I will start with the ‘smaller’ items first:
An exclusive Magical Beasts Luggage Tag by Lovely Owl Books. This tag will look lovely on any of my bags when I go travelling. I don’t think I will put it on a large suitcase, but I will definitely have it on my hand luggage like my backpack.
A blackjack enamel pin by Taratjah which is inspired by Blackjack, Percy’s friendly black Pegasus from Percy Jacson by Rick Riordian. I love mythical creatures so I am loving this pin. It’s nice to see more enamel pins like this instead of the button ones we normally get. Lets hope this trend continues.
Write all your notes on the Carpe Diem Notepad designed by Little Inkling Designs. It features a quote from The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken, a book series I absolutely love and I can’t wait for the film that’s going to be released.
A beautiful print with Fictional Places is made by Fictiontea Designs. It features a sign post with some of readers’ favourite fictional places.
We also received an Ace of Shades button and These Fates Divide Bookmark.
Now for the bigger items:
FairyLoot included an exclusive Tote Bag desgined by Stella’s Bookish Art. I love the design and it features a quote from the Hobbit. I love how durable these bags are. And I often sport a tote if I want to go shopping in town.
The other big item seems quite exclusive. It is the first time I have ever seen a reusable coffe mug and this one is beautiful. This mug is inspired by the world of Narnia and was created by Ink and Wonder. I am not sure if this will be dishwasher proof so I will have to read up on that and make sure I won’t ruin it. For now it will be kept safe in my book case.
I had an inkling which book would be featured this month and again, I was happy to receive it with this months box; Beyond a Darkened Shore by Jessica Leake.
I love it that it’s a stand-alone book which features Celtic and Norse mythology.
Goodreads describes it as follow:
The ancient land of Éirinn is mired in war. Ciara, Princess of Mide, has never known a time when Éirinn’s kingdoms were not battling for power, or Northmen were not plundering their shores.
The people of Mide have thankfully always been safe because of Ciara’s unearthly ability to control her enemies’ minds and actions. But lately, a mysterious crow has been appearing to Ciara, whispering warnings of an even darker threat. Although her clansmen dismiss her visions as pagan nonsense, Ciara fears this coming evil will destroy not just Éirinn, but the entire world.
Then the crow leads Ciara to Leif, a young Northman leader. Leif should be Ciara’s enemy, but when Ciara discovers that he, too, shares her prophetic visions, she knows he’s something more. Leif is mounting an impressive army, and with Ciara’s strength in battle the two might have a chance to save their world.
With evil rising around them, they’ll do what it takes to defend the land they love…even if it means making the greatest sacrifice of all.
The book has a beautiful cover and I can’t wait to get started in it.
FairyLoot never disappoints me and I’m happy that I’m still subscribed to them. For a UK based book box I feel their shipping is quick. And the quality of the products is on point. You get a lot of items for your money. I have never tried out the reading buddy code that they have in the boxes, but I might actually try it out some time.
