I received an email from one of my book box subs that they were going to be a bit delayed until the first week of June. I was a tad disappointed when I heard this because who doesn’t like to receive a box filled with goodies?
Luckily FairyLoot arrived on my doorstep today, so I’m immediately going to review it for you all.
This month’s theme was ‘Save the Kingdom’ and I was expecting a lot of gifts from epic proportions…. Or at least something that would have books themed around kingdoms and their heroes. It’s an interesting theme, and again quite open to interpretation, but it was great to hear that FairyLoot would feature items around the Throne of Glass-series, An Ember in the Ashes and The Winners Trilogy.
I am not going to lie, I am quite impressed with the items in this box, but I also think it has to do with how big the book is this month.
So let’s quickly have a look at all the other gifts beside the book:
The one item I am totally in love with is the Exclusive Fear Book Sleeve designed by Reverie & Ink. It’s beautiful and based on the book An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir. I love book sleeves as many already know and the design of this one is lovely and different from the others I already have. I think I might have to start collecting them now.
The next item is something I have never really used before and it’s Wyrd Mark Page Flags by Fictiontea Designs. I love that it’s little wyrd mark(ers) that are inspired by Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas. I have seen a lot of people use these sticky markers in the books that they are reading to highlight great bits in the books. Are any of you guys doing this? I’m debating starting to do this with some of my favourite novels. I did use them a lot when I was studying so who knows, I could always use them for other purposes.
I was surprised to find another Coaster in the box. Its design is the same as one I have had previously. So now I have a lovely set of 2. The weapon coaster was designed by Evie Bookish and is based upon The Winners Trilogy by Marie Rutkoski. I have not started this series yet, but I did buy the first book on my kindle. I will have to start reading this soon now.
Another item we received was something I particularly can’t get enough of: tea!
The Tea Leaf Co created a super cute package for their English Breakfast tea. I love tea that I can put in my tea-eggs and slowly infuse my water with. I’m sure this will taste lovely!
There are two more items that are beauty based:
an exclusive Norgard Vegan Bath bomb that was created by Little Hearts Gifts which is inspired by the book that is in this box (it’s in the shape of a little castle or keep and it’s adorable) and a Remnant Vegan Lip Scrub created by Geeky clean which of course is inspired by The Remnant Chronicles by Mary E. Pearson. Another of those books I have on my TBR-list. I have never used a lip scrub, but both the scrub and the bath bomb smell great.
Of course we have some smaller items like some stickers, a signed sticker of the author of this months book and bookmarks.
This months book is a big one! It almost feels that it should contain an epic tale just because of it’s sheer amount of pages.
The book we received in our box this month is Onyx & Ivory by Mindee Arnett. The story contains magic, dragons, action and romance, intrigue and much more. We received an exclusive Edition that has sprayed black pages. This book also includes a letter from the author and character art of Kate and Corwin by Emily Haynes.
Goodreads describes the book as follow:
They call her Traitor Kate. It’s a title Kate Brighton inherited from her father after he tried to assassinate the high king years ago. Now Kate lives as an outcast, clinging to the fringes of society as a member of the Relay, the imperial courier service. Only those most skilled in riding and bow hunting ride for the Relay; and only the fastest survive, for when dark falls, the nightdrakes—deadly flightless dragons—come out to hunt.
Fortunately, Kate has a secret edge: she is a wilder, born with magic that allows her to influence the minds of animals. But it’s this magic that she needs to keep hidden, as being a wilder is forbidden, punishable by death or exile. And it’s this magic that leads her to a caravan massacred by nightdrakes in broad daylight—the only survivor her childhood friend, her first love, the boy she swore to forget, the boy who broke her heart.
Another stunning box by FairyLoot. I really love how different the themes are each week and how you receive quality items. I’m still not 100% certain if I will really use the lip scrub or the Page Flags. However, I always find a use for each item. Again, it’s UK based so I don’t feel like I have to pay too much for shipping cost in addition. If you are in the UK I would recommend this box. And if you are not and they do deliver to your country. Perhaps see if you find it worth the extra cost for shipping.
