Harry Potter 20th: sorted into Ravenclaw

Harry Potter 20th: I got sorted into Ravenclaw

So, since it’s the 20th anniversary of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, Harry is hip and happening right now. As it should be! Harry Potter forever! To celebrate this joyous occasion, Ingrid already wrote about what Harry Potter means to her. And since I love quizzes, I decided to get myself sorted through all kinds of sites. Am I Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Slytherin or Hufflepuff?

Pottermore is ofcourse the one and only official Harry Potter site. As a huge Potterhead, I already was sorted loooong before I wrote this, so I can’t actually remember the questions or procedure. The result: I am a Ravenclaw! Pottermore has a huge amount of information on all houses. The best known Ravenclaws out there are: Luna Lovegood, Cho Chang, Gilderoy Lockhart, Filius Flitwick, Sybill Trelawney, Quirinus Quirrel and Garrick Ollivander.

Pottermore ends it’s welcome message with:

Well done on becoming a member of the cleverest, quirkiest and most interesting house at Hogwarts.

Other fun sorting facts from Pottermore: my Patronus is a Black Swan; my Ilvermorny house is Pukwudgie; my wand is Sycamore wood with a Unicorn hair core 14″ and Brittle flexibility. Take a look at my beautiful wand:

Buzzfeed is ofcourse known for it’s weird and sometimes even stupid quizzes. I took some and here are the results:

Because make-up is important in the Potterverse? Anyway, I got Ravenclaw, again!

When it comes to makeup – just like in life – you don’t like to play by the rules. You love to experiment with colours and sparkles, and you could never be described as boring, which makes you a perfect fit for Ravenclaw house. You are a true innovator!

This quiz is from 2010 so it’s one of the older ones out there. The result? “Off to Ravenclaw, smartypants!”

I loved this Buzzfeed Harry Potter quiz the best. I even got to fill in my wand has a unicorn hair. Thank you Pottermore! This was the first quiz that got me sorted into… Slytherin!

If a member of another house tries to belittle you for being a Slytherin, remind them that you have all the cunning of a Ravenclaw, loyalty of a Hufflepuff, and resourcefulness of a Gryffindor. You just do things differently. You in particular have some Hufflepuff in you as well, making you incredibly, fiercely loyal to the select group you consider to be your close friends. That will serve you well anytime you face hardships and need support.

This quiz used a lot of pictures from the film, so that brough back fond memories. The quiz gave me another first: I got sorted into Gryffindor!

You’re bold, brave, and sometimes brash. You aren’t afraid to take charge of a situation like Harry, Ron, and Hermione would, and you’ve probably got a sense of humor like the Weasley twins to boot. Yup, Gryffindor is the house for you!

So, this is something a bit different. I tells you what house you won’t be in. I’m kinda hoping (sorry Newt) for Hufflepuff here. Aaaand… YES. I’m very lucky. I’m definitely NOT in Hufflepuff:

OK admit it, you’re breathing a sigh of relief that you’re not in Hufflepuff, right? Maybe it’s because you’re a bright Ravenclaw, or ambitious Slytherin, or brave Gryffindor…but the real important thing is you’re not Hufflepuff. But you wouldn’t mind dating Cedric Diggory…

The final Buzzfeed sorting quiz I took and it gave me: Slyterin, again. Though I didn’t think this quiz counted as it was super quick and superficial.

You’re cunning and ambitious, and you might even have a ~bad~ side — but you knew that already. Slytherin is the house for you.

The final score for Buzzfeed:
Ravenclaw: 2
Slytherin: 2
Gryffinfor: 1
Hufflepuff: haha, not there

Time actually made this sorting quiz for the 20th anniversary of Harry Potter, so it’s brand new! This is also the most elaborate of all quizzes out there, and it actually focusses a lot on your personality. You can take the quiz here.

To accomplish this, we worked with the researchers to develop a 21-question quiz compiled from several well-established scientific personality surveys, choosing questions that related to prevalent themes in the books. Over the past several weeks, we recruited hundreds of Harry Potter fans to take this survey on behalf of 20 different characters from the books, five from each House. The tens of thousands of data points we gathered gave us a detailed portrait of how different personality traits correspond to the personalities of members of each of the four Houses.

It has questions like ‘I am an ordinary person who is no better than others.’ and ‘Even if something scares me, I will not back down’. You have to tick the box if you agree or disagree. My result:

Harry Potter Time Sorting Quiz Ravenclaw

I guess I am a Ravenclaw!

My final score is this:

Ravenclaw: 4
Slytherin: 2
Gryffinfor: 1
Hufflepuff: -1

That makes me a Ravenclaw. And I am happy with that! The keywords for Ravenclaw are Intelligent, Wise, Sharp, Individual, Witty. I can find myself in those. And according to Pottermore, these are the six reasons to be excited about being a Ravenclaw:

  1. Ravenclaw is famous for welcoming eccentric people
  2. Getting into the Ravenclaw common room sounds like a lot of fun
  3. Ravenclaws aren’t just in it for the glory
  4. They speak their mind
  5. Their house emblem is awesome
  6.  …and their founder has the most tragic and intriguing backstory

So, what house do you belong in?
