A Visit to The Harry Potter Store – Utrecht

London has the Platform 9 3/4 shop at King’s Cross Station, but that is not the only magical Harry Potter shop at a train station in the world. For the release of the Dutch version of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, bookstore AKO created a special Harry Potter store which will be open for, wait for it, 9 3/4 weeks! You can buy many things that have to do with the world of Harry Potter, from books to keychains to wax stamps and so much more. We happened to be in Utrecht for Dutch X-Mas Con, and as we are massive Potterheads, we couldn’t help but take a look inside the store to be transported to the Wizarding World for just a few moments.

The store is not just a regular store. It is basically a labyrinth that takes you through all the books. There is a lot to see and they did a fantastic job on making it all look authentic.

Official Harry Potter Merchandise

All of the merchandise was official although the prices were a little bit steep. However, that did not stop me from buying a gorgeous Gryffindor keychain, because I needed it in my life. You’d be a liar if you said the Harry Potter store didn’t make you greedy at all.

They even had this large wall where you could leave a message, which I thought was a great idea. There were a lot of Harry Potter quotes on it, with “Always” being the most written quote. The Deathly Hallows symbol was also drawn a lot. But mostly, people just wrote down their own names.

If you happen to be in Utrecht, make sure you visit the Harry Potter store. Even if you do not want to buy anything, it’s still a great store to have a look around in.
