A few months ago, it was announced that the travelling exhibition of Harry Potter would finally come to the Netherlands. For the past few years, the expo has travelled around the world, making sure fans could catch a glimpse of the amazing masterpieces made for the Potter Franchise. I was allowed to visit the press opening, which was yesterday. The Harry Potter expo Utrecht will officially open tomorrow, but you can already take a sneak peek in this post.
We’ve filmed a video about our time at the expo and in this post you will also find quite a few pictures. If you are going to the expo and want to avoid spoilers, then look away quickly! Done? Okay, let’s get started!
The Expo is not as big as the studio tour in London. That would be impossible, considering the massive sets that were created for the films. Do not worry, there is still plenty to see. The expo is basically a walkthrough and you move through different parts of the Potter world. But first of all, you will get sorted by the real sorting hat!
It goes without saying that the sorting hat put my brave soul into Gryffindor.
I especially enjoyed all the smaller pieces. The amount of effort and detail that went into all the smaller props is astounding. I don’t think you can get a clear idea of how well it’s done until you actually see these props in real life. This is why the Exhibition is the perfect opportunity to see it all up close.
Sometimes when you are not paying attention, your greatest fears may pop up behind you. But you can also check out stuff from your favourite characters. I mean, who doesn’t remember Ron’s obsession with the Chudley Cannons?
There is also time to visit your biggest friends as they surely have a spot somewhere in the exhibition. Check me out visiting Hagrid, for example.
There are even plenty of sections which will make the heart of any Death Eater beat faster. There is the Forbidden Forest and even a space reserved for the dark forces.
The Harry Potter Exhibition will be in Utrecht from 11 February until the 30 June. If you want more information or want to buy tickets, check out the official website HarryPotterExpo.nl
