Disney bought Fox: These Things Can Happen Now!

In case you’ve been living under a rock: Disney bought Fox for about 500 gazillion dollars. And while the numbers and figures and other boring bits are all probably very interesting (if you’re an accountant at either Disney or Fox), it’s the popculture impact we’re interested in. Just let this sink in: Disney bought Fox. Disney. Bought. Fox. So get ready for some very cool cinema years in the not too distant future. Because here are some of the things that might just happen now.

A decent Fantastic Four movie franchise

Disney bought Fox Fantastic Four franchise

While there’s no denying that Captain America made a nice Johnny Storm, there are just no good Fantastic Four films. The two films from 2005 en 2007 weren’t terrible, but if you call these great superhero movies, you should see some more films in the genre probably. The recent 2015 Fantastic Four film was… well… an abomination. There, I said it. I can’t think of a single good thing in that film.

So, give us a fantastic Fantastic Four franchise. With epic casting and most importantly, a great plot. If this is done right, we could have years and years of Fantastic Fours on the big screen. With some cool crossovers even. Bring in some Avengers, some Spider-Man or some X-Men. Yes please!

A new Wolverine

Disney bought Fox and Wolverine Hugh Jackman

Sorry. But this might just happen. I love Hugh Jackman, you love Hugh Jackman, everybody loves Hugh Jackman. But fact is, Logan was his last turn as Wolverine. And this character is one of the best there is. With the X-Men finally coming home to Marvel, a Wolverine reboot is not such a crazy idea. If Disney is smart, they’ll wait a couple of years so mr. Jackman isn’t imprinted into everybody’s memory. Maybe they could get Hugh to do a cameo of some sort.

OR! And this is just a little bit of dreaming: Jackman’s Wolverine could make a final appearance in the so far untitled Avengers 4. Because why not? Everything’s possible at the MCU.

All the crossovers crossing over

Disney bought Fox possible crossovers

Just think about it: the X-Men, Deadpool, the Avengers, the Fantastic Four and Spider-Man (although that last one still technically belongs to Sony…) are all in the same universe now. What about the comicbook arc ‘Deadpool kills the Marvel Universe’? Or ‘The Avengers vs. X-Men’? There are SO MANY possibilities, just thinking about it could make your head explode. You thought Avengers: Infinity War had a lot of characters? Just you wait.

Disney has already confirmed that Deadpool will stay R-rated, so there’s no fear that suddenly all of the new MCU films will be mild. Phew! Films like Logan and Deadpool have such a different take on things, it’s great to have content like that. It’s a good contrast to the more ‘funny’ films like Guardians of the Galaxy or Thor: Ragnarok.

A new Disney Princess?

Disney bought Fox alien xenomorph disney princess

I’m just kidding. But the Internet was buzzing with this and it’s too funny not to mention. Though it’s true that the Alien franchise will now also be Disney’s.

Listen to this

That’s right. Fox had the rights to the most epic of epic film intro’s ever created. This intro will give any Star Wars fan goosebumps on his goosebumps. Listen to it again, and again, and again. And while it’s too late for The Last Jedi; Star Wars Episode 9 might just open with epicness. WOW. Thank The Force that Disney bought Fox.

And much, much, much more…

There are endless possibilities. Disney has obtained countless characters, franchises, rights and films. Disney/Marvel/Fox is a force to be reckoned with. It might not be a great deal for the diversity in Hollywood studio’s, but it’s (probably) a great deal for us fans.
