The Lion King trailer is here!

In the last few years, Disney has started making live action versions of their biggest classics. We got The Jungle Book, Cinderella and of course Beauty and the Beast. We’ve already had trailers for Dumbo and Aladdin, but so far there was no sign of a The Lion King trailer. The expectations for this film are high, especially since it is such a classic. Many fans were curious and fearful at the same time to see how Disney would bring this film to life. The first teaser trailer is here and it is promising.

I’m already sold. The animals look real and who else felt their heartbeat increase watching the wildebeests and Pride Rock? Jon Favreau already delivered with The Jungle Book, but by the looks of it, The Lion King will be even better.

What is it about?

The Lion King is basically Hamlet with animals. The story is about the cub Simba and his journey to adulthood and his place in the circle of life. Simba starts as a prince, the son of the mighty Mufasa. His childhood is tragically disrupted as his evil uncle Scar murders Mufasa and banishes Simba from the kingdom. Simba meets Timon and Pumba and together they live a quiet life in the jungle. When Simba is an adult, his past comes haunting him and he has to return to Pride Rock to defeat Scar and reclaim the thone.

The music in the film is almost as legendary as the film itself. The Live Action will star Donald Glover as Simba and Beyoncé as Nala, so that should be alright.

The Lion King will be in theatres in the summer of 2019.
