Usually I would start off with an article about what an event was like. I am going to do that tomorrow, as I first wanted to write this. Well, in short, Dutch X-Mas Con was great! It was smaller than the regular Dutch Comic Con in March and there was more space to move (which is not a bad thing) and very interesting guests (Jason Isaacs!) but there was one thing I was loved the most. Cosplay.
This has been the second time I’ve been to any sort of convention and the one thing that always amazes me is the fantastic costumes people come up with. Before I ever went to a convention, I would look up cosplay pictures online and admire these people for all the time and effort they put into these costumes. It is even better to see these costumes in real life and see how so many cosplayers actually are their characters. I can’t count the amount of times I have muttered that I wish I could create these costumes too. Honestly, somebody teach me!
I took photos of cosplayers, especially during the Cosplay contest and I really wanted to share them with you, because I want you to see how great these costumes are. If you happen to be in one of these photos and would like a larger version, please email us at email@example.com. While you’re at it, also share your costume-making secrets with me. Maybe next time I will be brave enough to come in costume to experience what it is like. Photos after the jump!
I wish I had had the chance to take pictures of even more cosplayers, but at times my camera refused to work with me so I hope these will do for now. In three months I will have another shot.
I absolutely loved this guy and had to take a picture. He is cosplaying the Pokémon Amoonguss, which is incredibly creative. As a Pokémon fan, I especially loved this cosplay.
Even the Furries were in the house!
One of the judges who cosplayed a beautiful Zelda.
Dutch Comic Con Cosplay Contest Winners
These guys were the winners of the Cosplay contest and rightfully so. The attention to detail was fantastic and they looked like they were actually part of the Hobbit films.
Bellatrix and Narcissa looking as fabulous and dangerous as ever.
An absolutely gorgeous Sansa Stark.
And the Mother of Dragons, Daenerys Targaryan!
Batman was also present and still as brooding as ever.
This little guy was my absolute favourite! He portrayed Ratchet and Clank, which is very original and brought back great memories of when I played those games. Kudos!
And here’s Ratchet’s mother who also looked incredible!
Things got chilly when Narnia’s Ice Queen walked onto the stage.
Christmas got a whole lot more dangerous!
Look at this fantastic costume! Hand-made! How the hell do you create something like that?
I am just probably going to keep saying how incredible I think all of these costumes are.
This costume was great and although it must have been a little chilly, I admire this girl’s courage for wearing it in the middle of Winter. (I am easily cold).
Frost Giant Loki. Those creepy eyes are a very nice touch!
Guess I was the target. Don’t shoot me!
This one was absolutely hilarious! Jon Snow White. I couldn’t help laughing.
The Reaper being a total bad ass!
And last but not least, this powerchick!
Hopefully next time my camera will cooperate a little more so I will be able to shoot more great photos. I think it is a great thing that these cons exist because it is a great place for people to show off their creativity and express their love for a pop culture phenomenon. Tomorrow I will post more about the con itself. For now, I will rest. Goodnight!
