Learning digital art #2

Learning digital art #2

It´s been a while since I had time to do some digital painting. And the things I did do did not quite look the way I had envisioned it in my head. But I studies several tutorials, closed my door, sacrificed a virgin and started to work on something completely new. So here’s the second part of my journey into learning digital art.

I´ve always had an obsession with Alice in Wonderland. I have no idea why, but the story appealed to me, despite most thinking it is a story for children and that the writer was a pedophile. I personally think he was on too many mushrooms, but hey. Anyway, I wanted to draw something in the style of Alice, and I took the picture above as inspiration for my drawing. One hell of an angry looking flamingo and Alice looking at him like dude get some chill.

It took me approximately 4 hours to finish it and despite it still being a bit messy, I am actually proud of how it turned out.

It is much better than my first tries. Basically I sketched it using the original image as a guideline. I then did the linework and started doing the base  colours. Do not mind the hands, I suck at drawing hands, but practise makes perfect they say. I spend a gazillion years doing the shading and then when it was done, I went to photoshop to do some further adjustments. My next goal is to make sure things are not as messy next time, but hey, I am getting a little better.

Hope you like it!
