Perfect excuse as to why I did not post on time this week.

Hello my darlings!

I apologise for the lack of posts, but my wifi connection decided to just stop so I was without internet for two whole days. I even had to up my data because I could not be totally unavailable for all my three online friends of course. Oh the things I missed while I was away. The youtube videos I have to catch up on. Anyway, I am back now although I would like to share my experience calling helpdesks.

Helpdesks are fantastic because they provide help when your internet stops working and all hell breaks loose and you are super a-technical and have no clue what to do. Quite often though, helpdesks can be a pain in the ass because the person on the other end of the line also has no clue what the hell they are talking about either. I’ve once had some guy hang up on me after being super patronising. He said: “Ok, I can’t help you anymore bye.” That was not cool.

Last Wednesday’s helpdesk call wasn’t as traumatising, however, my accent and me felt slightly discriminated against when the nice computervoice asked me to say my zip code out loud.

“8909 RC”

“Sorry, could you please repeat that?”

“8909 RC”

“We did not understood that. Could you please repeat it again?”

“Are you effing kidding me?”

“We did not find that zip code in our database. Please wait a moment.”

Thankfully, they decided to let me go through to an actual person without having to shout at the phone again, but I did very much feel like this:

I finally got to speak to someone who was asking me all kinds of complicated questions that made me feel like I was back in high school again such as “Can you explain the Pythagoras Theorem?” No she did not really ask that. She wondered if we could find the lights on a little black box. But if you know what it looks like behind our television set, you will know that finding a little black box is similar to finding a needle in the haystack. Impossible. It tooks us fifteen minutes and three people to locate said box, only to find out that it was broken. I have to give kudos to helpdesk lady for being incredibly patient.

Anyway, I am back again. And soon my holidays will start so I will be able to post more. I will even try to post everyday. Isn’t that nice of me? I thought so.
